2026 Super Regional Picks & Predictions

After a truly fantastic weekend of Regionals, Supers are now upon us. We are just a couple weeks away from knowing who will take this year’s title home from Omaha. Just to give a preview: the top two ranked teams in the nation, UCLA and Georgia Tech, have already been sent home. We have two 4 seeds in Super Regionals for the first time. Troy will be hosting a Super, and West Virginia will host Cal Poly (advancing from UCLA’s Regional group) after defeating Kentucky as hosts in two games that will down in college baseball history.

There is potential for more history to be made, and the best time of the year has come. I’ll be running through each of the eight best-of-three Super Regional matchups to provide my insight on how some of these games might go. With how this tournament has turned out so far, you can bet that this one will be unpredictable to the end if nothing else.

Morgantown Super Regional

1 West Virginia vs. 3 Cal Poly

This has all the potential to be one of the most chaotic Supers from start to finish based on how both of these teams got here. Cal Poly defeated Virginia Tech and then St. Mary’s twice without suffering a loss, while the Mountaineers had a rockier path in the Morgantown Regional. West Virginia took care of Binghamton day 1 before the Kentucky Wildcats chased Big 12 Pitcher of the Year Maxx Yehl in the first inning the following day. West Virginia battled back from down 6-0 to make it an excellent game, but Kentucky ended up winning the contest 11-9. West Virginia defeated Wake Forest in the loser’s bracket before coming back down 9-6 to win 11-9 in the rematch against Kentucky, and Armani Guzman walked off the if necessary game before an awesome, awesome moment of the Mountaineers and their fans singing Country Roads in unison. Both of these Regionals were absolutely drunk, so expect the Super to be hammered. I predict a lot of runs to be scored, and am so back and forth on who I think will win but very much think this will go to three games. This is so tough but give me West Virginia, more Country Roads magic.

Prediction: West Virginia in 3

Troy Super Regional

3 Troy vs. 4 Little Rock

This matchup right here is a prime example of why exercises like this can be absolutely futile at times. You would be hard-pressed to find a contingent of people who honestly thought we would see Troy hosting Little Rock in a 2026 Super Regional, and it will be awesome. Trojans vs. Trojans; and I am so here for it. This is both programs’ first Super Regional appearance in Division I history. Riddle-Pace Field will be absolutely rocking for this. Both teams have been very hot offensively, Troy in particular putting up 27 runs in 2 games against Regional host Florida to conclude last weekend. Little Rock played excellent baseball both offensively and defensively, and seemed to always get a timely hit when they needed to in Hattiesburg. This is another one I think will go to 3 games and will be quite high-scoring, but give me Troy and their red-hot offense to take it down.

Prediction: Troy in 3

Chapel Hill Super Regional

1 North Carolina vs. 2 Southern California

This Super Regional would be the craziest in terms of travel, if not for the San Luis Obispo to Morgantown trip required for the Cal Poly Mustangs. I am curious to see how much of a turnout there will be for the Trojans’ crowd in this one, and predict it will be mostly all Carolina Blue in the stands. Side note, there are three programs that go by the “Trojans” in Division I baseball, and all three have made it to Super Regionals. This is another matchup that will deliver with high doses of excitement. North Carolina, a consensus top five team in the country pretty much all year, will host USC who has been red hot on both sides of the ball and multiple MLB talents. UNC will also have to face off against Mason Edwards in the series opener, who might just be the best pitcher in all of Division I baseball. I don’t think UNC will exactly tee off on Edwards, but I like the depth of their pitching staff and home spot against travel in game one. I do think this one stays close too though, but I’ll be going with Carolina’s slight edge in depth for this Super Regional.

Prediction: North Carolina in 3

Auburn Super Regional

1 Auburn vs. 2 Ole Miss

Although Auburn is hosting this Super, they were on the ropes and damn near exited this tournament last weekend in the Regional they also hosted. When nobody least expected, 4 seed Milwaukee (who had a losing regular season record) shocked the world and dominated Auburn in one of the first games of the 2026 NCAA Tournament. Ace Jake Marciano was chased after recording just three outs, and Auburn was able to fight their way back through the loser’s bracket to survive the Regional. Ole Miss on the other hand, stormed into the Lincoln Regional and advanced after winning an extra innings thriller against Arizona State on day one. The opener is likely to be a battle of true aces, as Auburn’s Marciano is expected to toe off against SEC foe Cade Townsend in what could be one of the best pitching matchups all postseason. I do think Marciano bounces back, but I love the Running Rebs’ chances to ride a Townsend outing and their bats’ momentum to a win in the opener. I still think Auburn will take the Super Regional with their depth and like their chances to go deep overall; either way this one will be so much fun.

Prediction: Auburn in 3

Lawrence Super Regional

1 Kansas vs. 2 Oklahoma

After hosting and winning their first ever Regional, the Jayhawks will be running it back and hosting the Super. Many in the realm of college baseball fandom and media were saying the two Big 12 hosts, Kansas and West Virginia, were both disrespectfully seeded in the Regional and unlikely to host a Super Regional. One of those appears to have been right, and the other dead wrong after UCLA and Georgia Tech saw early exits as the top two teams in the field. The Oklahoma Sooners, who took care of Georgia Tech, will be meeting the Jayhawks in Lawrence. Oklahoma’s Regional-clinching moment, a walk-off home run to dead center off the bat of Dayton Tockey against Georgia Tech, could not have been more electric. This should be a fantastic matchup between two teams who are likely to deliver tons of excitement. Oklahoma has had a very solid roster all year and is putting it all together at the right time, with a number of pitchers who can attack hitters all weekend long. Kansas has been rattling off series wins like it is their occupation all year, and have hitters 1-9 that can take advantage of mistakes at any moment. I am most confident this will stick to the theme of going to three games instead of picking either of these teams to win, so give me the Sooners in another thriller.

Prediction: Oklahoma in 3

Tuscaloosa Super Regional

1 Alabama vs. 4 St. John’s

I actually had one of these teams correct in my bracket from Episode #6 of the podcast, and it wasn’t Alabama. Let’s go Johnnies! The St. John’s Red Storm advanced through the Tallahassee Regional following some exciting wins over 1 seed Florida State, and will attempt to take down the Crimson Tide next. Alabama made their way through a Regional field that was not as anxiety-inducing as some of the others, but did their job at every corner en route to advancing past Oklahoma State, USC Upstate, and Alabama State. It’s worked once and I believe it will work again. This offense could not be stopped in crunch time last weekend, and the bullpen looked rock solid against some seriously tough competition at the plate. I’m backing the Johnnies to shock the world and advance to the College World Series for the first time in 46 years.

Prediction: St. John’s in 3

Austin Super Regional

1 Texas vs. 1 Oregon

Now we advance into the chalkiest portion of the bracket remaining, the only quadrant where all four hosts won their Regional and advanced. Both Texas and Oregon were nothing short of dominant against their Regional opponents; Texas went 3-0 and scored 41 runs while allowing just 7, and the Ducks went 3-0 with 22 runs scored and 3 allowed. The Ducks pitching staff was a bit better through the past weekend, but the Longhorns have Dylan Volantis likely ready to go for game 1 . Both teams have high-octane offenses, and potential to have incredibly strong weekends on both sides of the ball. After seeing the atmospheres of last weekend, I like the idea of backing the home spots with how raucous these crowds will likely be and how far some of these travel spots will be for the visitors. I also love Volantis’s game. I’ll be going with this one to wrap up in two just because of Texas getting the home spot boost, but could very likely see this one going right down to the wire too.

Prediction: Texas in 2

Athens Super Regional

1 Georgia vs. 1 Mississippi State

Trojans on Trojans earlier, and now it’s Bulldogs on Bulldogs. This is the eighth and final Super Regional matchup to preview, and it may be the very best one in terms of the pure talent both teams bring to the table. SEC Player of the Year Daniel Jackson and the Georgia Bulldogs’ deep bullpen will go toe to toe with Mississippi State’s MLB first round talent Ace Reese, bona fide ace Tomas Valincius and crew. It is important to note that Georgia will be without one of their stars, Tre Phelps, as Phelps was ejected while celebrating a home run in the Regional Final last weekend. The ejection was disputed; some Liberty players seemed to take exception to hand signals Phelps was making while rounding the bases, but Georgia head coach Wes Johnson claimed Phelps was simply waving over to his family in attendance. Either way, the suspension was final with no appeal process. This is another that I predict will go to three, with the team taking the first game not closing the series in its totality. I think Valincius and the Bulldogs from Starkville put their strengths on display against a Phelps-less Georgia in game 1, but I’ll be picking UGA in three with a potential spot to rally back after getting Phelps back in game 2.

Prediction: Georgia in 3

This wraps up our Super Regional Prediction article, and now it is time to enjoy the games. The first game to start is West Virginia vs. Cal Poly at noon eastern on Friday, and this kicks off what should be a fantastic slate of playoff baseball all weekend long. Get ready everybody, it’s time for things to truly go off the rails now.
